Bulbous nose condition may be due to swelling of the cartilage tissue in the nose. Despite the allusions to misanthropic comedian, W.C. Fields, whose nose was his persona in his 30’s and 40’s vintage movies, this form of bulbous nose is NOT due to excessive drinking. This type of condition may only be helped surgically. However, there is another form of bulbous nose, the “garden variety” type of bulbous nose, which may be due to rosacea, a redness or discoloration of the skin due to, in some cases, a form of fungus. Good hygiene and the cleansing of the external nose tissue is always a first start in the remediation of this condition.
